This is version 2.3 of the Tenantry Privacy Policy. Material changes to this policy require re-acceptance in the app.
1. Information We Collect
Account information — name, email address, phone number.
Property and lease information — property and residence addresses, lease terms you and your counterpart enter.
Payment activity — records of in-app rent and deposit payments processed via Stripe (amounts, dates, status). Tenantry never receives your full bank credentials or card numbers; those go directly to Stripe.
Move-out and deposit settlement records — for a move-out or eviction, the itemized charges, any dispute explanation you submit, and the deposit-return details recorded on your lease.
Signatures — the drawn signature image you provide when signing a lease, stored with the lease record along with signing audit details.
Communications — in-app messages and maintenance requests (complaints) you send through Tenantry. These are not end-to-end encrypted, and Tenantry can read them. See §2.1.
Device and usage information — operating system, app version, usage data, and crash logs.
Local, on-device storage — for offline access, a copy of your leases, payments, messages, and complaints is cached on your device. Deleting your account does not automatically clear this on-device cache; uninstalling the app or clearing its storage does.
2. How We Use Information
To provide the service: managing properties, leases, signatures, payments, and communications between landlords and tenants.
To send notifications, including rent reminders, lease milestones, and account events.
To detect and prevent fraud and abuse of the service.
To comply with legal obligations.
2.1 In-App Messages
Messages you send through Tenantry are stored on our systems and are not end-to-end encrypted. Tenantry personnel and our automated systems can access message content, and we may use it to:
Review for safety and abuse — investigating harassment, threats, fraud, or other violations of our terms.
Resolve disputes — where a landlord or tenant asks us to review what was agreed, or where we must respond to a legal request.
Provide support — diagnosing problems you report to us.
We do not sell message content, and we do not use it for advertising. If you do not want a message used for these purposes, do not send it through Tenantry — use another channel with your landlord or tenant.
The in-app assistant does not use a third-party AI model and does not send your messages or account data to one: it answers by matching your request against a fixed set of supported actions and looking up your own records (for example, your payment history) directly. If we ever integrate a third-party AI/ML provider, we will update this policy to disclose what is sent to it before that feature ships.
2.2 Biometric Unlock
If you enable Face ID / fingerprint unlock, the match happens entirely on your device through your phone's operating system. Tenantry never receives, transmits, or stores your biometric data (face or fingerprint) — the app only stores a flag on your device indicating you turned the feature on.
3. Who We Share It With
We share information with service providers only as needed to run Tenantry, under contractual privacy obligations:
Stripe — payment processing and identity verification for connected accounts; receives payment and identity details you provide to it.
Supabase — hosts our database and file storage, including lease documents and signature images.
Resend — receives your email address to deliver verification codes and transactional email.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications to your device; receives your device's push token and the notification content (which can include names, dollar amounts, and property addresses, since that is what the notification displays).
GlitchTip — receives crash and error reports, including limited technical context about the device and the error. We do not send it your name, email, or payment details.
PostHog — receives uncaught application errors for diagnostics. We have disabled behavioral autocapture, so it does not record your screens, taps, or usage patterns.
Google and Apple — if you sign in with Google or Apple, they process your sign-in and share your name and email with us.
Thumbtack — only if you request a home-service quote, receives the details needed to produce that quote.
We also share information with your lease counterparty: your landlord or tenant sees the lease records, rent confirmations, and messages you send them, as required for the service to function.
We disclose information when required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request.
4. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Your Rights
You may access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. You can delete your account in the app under More → Delete Account, or exercise any of these rights by emailing assistant@tenantry.pro. Deleting your account anonymizes your personal information on our servers; it does not clear any local, on-device cache described in §1 — uninstall the app or clear its storage to remove that. Note: executed lease documents and their signing audit records are retained after account deletion as legally required records.
6. Security Incidents
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we determine that a security incident has compromised your personal information, we will notify you and any applicable regulators without undue delay and within the time required by applicable law, describing what happened, what information was involved, and what steps you can take.
7. Do Not Track
Tenantry does not track users across third-party websites or services, so it does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will require re-acceptance in the app before you continue using Tenantry.
9. Children
Tenantry is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
